Everything you need to know about sizing, fit, styling, and how to wear your clicker jewelry. From choosing the right diameter to understanding different ring styles, our guide is designed to help you find your perfect fit with confidence.

The best clicker size depends on your piercing placement, anatomy, and preferred fit. A smaller diameter will sit snug against the skin, while a larger diameter creates a looser, more relaxed look.

For most ear piercings:

  • 1/4" (6mm) = snug fit
  • 5/16" (8mm) = standard everyday fit
  • 3/8" (10mm) = roomier fit

We recommend measuring from your piercing hole to the edge of the ear and adding 1–2mm for comfort. If you’re unsure, consult a professional piercer for sizing guidance.

Clickers are versatile and can be worn in many piercings, including:

  • Helix
  • Conch
  • Daith
  • Septum
  • Nostril
  • Lobe
  • Rook
  • Tragus
  • Cartilage piercings

Not every clicker style or diameter will work for every placement, so always consider anatomy and sizing before purchasing.

Gauge refers to the thickness of the jewelry post or ring. The correct gauge depends on your piercing placement and how your piercing was originally pierced.

Common clicker gauges include:

  • 16G (1.2mm) — most common for cartilage piercings including conch, daith, tragus, rook, and septum

  • 18G (1.0mm) — commonly used for lobes, helix, and some nostril piercings

For comfort and proper healing, your jewelry should match the gauge of your existing piercing. We do not recommend forcing a thicker gauge into a healed piercing unless advised by a professional piercer.

If you’re unsure of your current gauge, we recommend checking with your piercer before purchasing jewelry.

Clickers use a hinged segment with a snap closure.

To open:

  • Gently pull the hinged segment upward until it clicks open.

To close:

  • Insert the jewelry into the piercing.
  • Press the hinged segment back into place until you hear or feel a secure click.

Avoid pulling the ring sideways, as this can damage the hinge over time.

Forward-facing clickers are designed so the decorative portion faces outward toward the front of the body or ear. These are commonly worn in septum, daith, or certain ear placements where the design should be fully visible head-on.

Side-facing clickers are designed for piercings where the jewelry naturally sits sideways, such as helix or lobe piercings. The decorative design is oriented to appear upright when worn in these placements.

Choosing the correct orientation ensures the jewelry sits properly and displays the design as intended.

Clickers
Hinged rings with an easy snap closure. Designed for convenient everyday wear and frequent jewelry changes.

Seam Rings
Minimal continuous rings that open by twisting the ends apart. They create a seamless appearance but can be more difficult to insert and remove.

Huggies
Small, close-fitting hoop earrings typically designed for lobes. Huggies often use traditional earring posts and clasps rather than body jewelry mechanisms.

Each style offers a different look, fit, and level of ease depending on your piercing and preference.
